IR2220i: How it is possible ?

Ir2220i: How can it be possible?
Dear All Genttlement: I got some question on IR SST install. It is not problem but I cannot understand why it is like that.
Few month ago, my boss ask me to install printer and scaner driver for our client using IR2220i machine.
But some of its feature : communication setting and and address setting cannot be seen. (The place which should have these word become empty)
I didnt know what to. And only install network scangear and network printer for our client. Making the machine to operate as an IR2200.
Just a month ago, thanks to some genttlement here, I got 1st ir2200 firmware. Put a working HDD inside service box.
Now, the thing I cannot undersatnd begin.
    1. I put this ir2200 HDD to ir2220i, it boot and stop halfway. so I turn off power.
    2. I put back ther original ir2220i HDD. It also boot and stop halfway. But have a message asking me to restart machine.
    3. I did so, then it bootup properly. supprissingly, machine original feature recover. (scan to host, ifax featre can now be use)

I can not understand what is happennig. Can some one tell why?
finally, I will be apriciate if some one willing to share with me your ir2200i, ir2220i firmware please.
    PM me .
    Thank you very much.

    My take on this is...

When hard drives fail, they do not always completely die, but can have a hard time retrieving and writing data to the disks. Yours apparently had this issue originally, and can now read the areas on the disk that it earlier could not. I can tell you with a great deal of certainty that though this original drive is now functioning, it will again quit working. I used to reformat these drives and run a very exhaustive hard drive testing software on them, sometimes running for a day, and reuse them. The ones that passed the test were put back into use in copiers. These drives would fail again in a very high percentage within months of their placement back in the copiers, so I discontinued that practice. When they fail, I throw them out. Hard drives are like light bulbs,,, they work untill they don't!

      Dear Mr Mrfixit51:
Thank you very much for you advice.
Ya, this is the type of question that will never ask by a trained service tech or those having firmware. I am not as fortunate. Canon feed me and my children for 20 years but never get a proper channel to view/use basic tool like SST. Not to say to be trained. It take me 2 days to build a CF card for IR3300 after receiving 1st functional SST and firmware. May be I am showing off but I normally read the necessary article for solution to avoid asking silly question. This is reason for asking ALL GENTTLEMENT to share your IR2200i, IR2220i with me. Please.
      Thank you.

I also do not know how well the ir2220 is going to react if you put ir2200 software into it. They are similiar, but not the same. If you also load plain copier system software instead the network version of software, the copier will have no place for you to put your network settings into the copier.

        have a good day

This is an example of fixing " I FEATURE DOWN MACHINE" in a non standard way.
