I need to adjust the registration, or placement, of the image in the top to bottom or non-feed direction. The service mode in this series is way different than the Canons I deal with regularly. I heard a rumor that Canon is about to make service manuals available online. That would really be cool...

Have you check the cassettes to see if the guides are holding the paper in place or check to see if they are broken.

Service mode indeed is different. I had a some what issue like yours and I checked the cassettes and they were broken and i did not notice and because it look like it was in place but the guides were shifted.

Trays...

Yeah, I've been there with those trays. Kinda flimsy, if you ask me. This is different, thought. We're printing to a pre-printed form, and I'm just trying to get things to line up a little better.

Are you trying to print to these forms, or are you doc feeding? Not sure if you have scanning issue, or printing issue. Let us know...

Adjust the position at which vertical scanning of a document fed from the ADF starts. The larger the adjustment
value, the narrower the left-side margin of the image becomes.
