    IRC 3380 J-1

    I have a an IRC 3380 and the J1 image pass has a code FF now i tried to jump it but got no where any other options i could try.

      No i was told take out the battery diconnect all cords and put a piece of metal on the + and the - for like 3 seconds and it should jump it or something i dont have the paper in front of me right now. but it didnt work.

        Why woud you put a piece of metal, this is not going to resolve your issue it might even make it worst. Do you even know what removing the battery does?

        The cmos battery is responsible for retaining clock (date and time) information on the imagePASS.

        Check your dip switches, are they in download mode?
        Since removing the battery did not work I would reinstall firmware, check your HDD or open up the J1 and check the motherboard.

          Some motherboards can get the info in bios scrambled, and what you were attempting to do was short the battery bias point to ground. Some manufacturers actually provide a jumper for this. Then the bios goes back to factory specs, and sometime resolves the issue. Since this did not occur, do as Screwtape suggested and reload the OS into the imagePASS.

            J1 FF errors

            I assume this bulletin is what you were trying,if this fails then reloading the system software would be the next step.
