Canon has a file containing a list of supported drives. This list is encrypted. So the SST HDD not found procedure posted by Oze that works for older models will not work. You have to use a drive on the list. Get the exact same model as a drive already in the machine or buy a new hdd that works in the machine either from Canon or if you know the manufacturer's model no. from somewhere else.

Canon encrypted the list because they want to make money, they don't want you to buy disks from someone else

Why don't you just search for it?

Here it is again...lucky I keep copies
The list of drives that bmand was referring to is actually contained within the system software for the HDD...the .itf file.
This procedure shows you how to open it so that you can view the list of compatible HDD.
What he says is 100% correct...you cannot edit this particular .itf file however as Canon have encrypted it.
I'm on leave at the moment but due to head back to work on Monday...I HAVE heard a rumour in Tech Services that this file CAN be edited and I'll do a little smoozing and see if they'll let me know the procedure.

Rather than just posting links to software(which is all I've ever seen you do by the way) why don't you give a description of what the software does, how to use it etc..
For example...I'm guessing from the name of the file that it's a ghosting program.
I also guess that it will ONLY work if you buy exactly the same model drive as the one already in the machine because,as we've said a million and one times, you cannot use any other drive than the ones contained in the .itf.
In future just don't post a link to a file without a description please...especially one from a filesharing site....they're a hotbed for malware.

Like I guessed it's probably a ghosting program.
My gripe is posting blind links to software...seems lazy to me is all.

I agree. No point linking to software without giving some explanation of what to do with it.

And not so easy for the rest of us to understand Korean.

                          Google translates it as

"Be sure. I reported the documentation. If you want to put a video that difficult?

Too difficult to write. It does not explain it."

                              Hi Peter,
As more than one person has mentioned,, due to the fact that the format .ift file is encrypted, the ONLY two options are to research the model you currently have in the machine, or buy one from Canon. FM2-4907-000 is the part number I have, and the drive enclosed in that box is HTS541640J9AT00. We can be no more specific than that.

                              Good luck!
