    Canon IR3220 color registration

I've got a Canon IR3220 w/500k copies. Was working fine except for a band of black toner leaking out of the drum at rear of machine. I pulled the ITB out and cleaned the toner buildup, cleaned all rollers, put it back in the copier, then the copies came out with the color images off each about 1/8". I've followed the instructions in the SM, making sure that the belt is lined up properly. I've taken it out, disassembled and reassembled 4 times now, each time, noticing it keeps wanting to feed crooked and ride up over the rib of the tension roller. The registration was perfect before I took this machine apart to clean it, now what do I do??? I'm ready to pull out what little hair I have left.

I've read post about DC-con with this problem as well. I'm new to the machine, so don't want to do that unless I have to.

This customer prints over 100k a month and had work stacking up so your help would be appreciated greatly!

Try to doing a quick auto grad also make sure your patch reading sensors are sitting in correctly mave have knocked then out when removing belt ass'y. if you need to do dc claer get a P-Print from service mode "fuction" "misc p" you can then re-enter the setting in servic mode "adjust"

Can you tell me where these sensors sit? I've looked through the SM and haven't found them yet. I took the itb out after seeing your post and don't see anything out of place yet.

Also, my copy of the service manual is missing the list of all the test prints for this machine. Can anyone get me these?

Just above the the manual feed ass'y the one with the blue handle you lift up before removing the belt ass'y. Make sure when you drop it down that its not staying up on one side as it wont get a good read from the belt

OK. I checked, it is all the way down. I also did an auto grad, the colors are still off.

If I did a DC-con, will the machine realign itself?

            Registration problems

I have had the same problem and it seems to be that once the unit has worn and then removed it fails to work, this may sound strange but replacing the itb belt and blade then carring out the autograd will 9 times out of 10 will correct the problem, but do make sure you clean all the rollers on the inside of the ITB.

Sometimes clearing DC helps but you must print out a p-print and re-input the values for dc-con. When this is done from my experience the problem comes back. If everything fails, cleaning ITB belt inside with alcohol and the driver roller as well from toner build up, dc con, the last thing you can do to. Adjust the lasers by cocking them back to home position and make sure if you cleared dc you should put those values back. Upgrading firmware could help as well.

Adjust your lasers back to home position.
You have to take each of the 4 lasers out to
do so, that would correct your issue.
Have some patients your gonna need some.

                  Goodluck.
