iR2570C Show " Remove the paper from the output tray"

    Hi!
I have a CANON IR 2570C with the following problem:
    - when I try to copy something it shows a "Remove the paper from the output tray" message
    - when I try to print something ( from a computer or from its menu) it works fine.
    Can somebody help me?

Do the prints and copies exit the machine at the same place? I am guessing they don't. Copies and prints normally are delivered to different trays. The message you mentioned is usually caused by an exit sensor flag hanging up.

There is only one way for the copies to exit the machine, still in the tray destination menu appears A for the copies and B for the prints. I change the destination for the copies to B and its seems to work, but why are two destinations in the menu?

I looked up the 2570 in Google, that model was not sold in the States, but appears to be the same thing as the 3100/3170 sold here. If their is no internal finisher, and no external finisher which requires a buffer pass unit, then it emptys out onto the area under the scanner. There is an internal second tray feature that allowed the copies to exit at two levels. Check the flag sensor for the exit area that is giving you the clear output indication.

There may have been an external output tray option on it. Go into service mode: COPIER OPTION ACC and check to see if there is an out tray and in tray option if so set them both to zero and restart copier.

It has a buffer pass unit but there is no finisher or external output tray (it was bought second hand). I check the Out-Tray in Service Mode, it was set to 0, I try both 0 and 1 , it makes no difference.

                the solution...

Alex has nailed it! The copier needs to have the buffer pass removed and the 2 flags installed to remedy this situation, and the 2 part numbers are: FC5-0798-000, FC5-0992-000, 'cause I am such a kind fellow for researching the numbers for you!!
