Mostly (i) models come standard with printing and sending capabilities and meap, others that are not (i) models are just stand alone copiers. As far as downgrading from 6020i to a 6020 would be senseless, you can upgrade a 6020 to have these capabilities but it would not be considered a (i) model.

Hi Screwtape thank you for responding to my topic.

How do you upgrade from iR6020 to iR6020i ? What are the requirement to upgrade these ? Do I just need to slot in the U SEND card which mounted in the main controller.

Any other software need to upgrade ?

It really does not matter. The machine can be upgraded buy purchasing the hardware. The(i) model is just another way canon markets the machine that all.

iR5020/5020i and ir6020/6020i has the system software...I did try it 3 times already...But it takes 45 minutes to 1 hour loading the system.

As Screwtape has alluded to, the copier cannot be upgraded to an "i", that is merely a marketing deal for Canon to put all the things needed into the copier to accomplish the Print/Send/Meap capabilities. You can upgrade a 6020 to do all the things that the 6020i can do, but it will never be an 6020i.

Network bootrom as well as a network card need to be installed in the 6020, then update system software to the latest network version. I believe that Universal Send needs also to be installed for the send portion to work, Screwtape can confirm yes or no on this.

You then have a fully functional machine, just no "i" on the front cover.

                  Confirm..
                  Couldn't say it better!
I also believe that you need a resolution switching board for the send feature.
