New problem i have not seen, Went out to replace drum unit the same same way i have done 20 times before when i reinstalled toner cartridge the copier makes a growling binding sound and the copies are very light on the rear almost blank, when i remove the toner, copier works great. Machine only has 35000 prints. anyone experience this problem before.. Thanks

I have not run into this yet, but did you try putting back in old drum to see if noise occured then? You could have a binding drum. I have not seen it with the 1023, but the larger copiers have from time to time run acrossed a binding drum.

Yes i did reinstall old drum and noise is the same, no noise when toner removed, also did try another toner cartridge. same thing, before i replaced anything i let the customer finish a print job other than drum marks on pages copier was working great....thanks for feedback.

check the swing arm that attaches to the door. it rubs causes noise when gear from drum in introduced
