Usually the serial number of the machine is on a silver label on the back of the machine, it should be a set of 3 letters followed by 5 numbers i.e. ABC12345.
Look for a bar code as is is also sometimes printed just under this. -
You would think so. But we have had several through now which has no stickers on the back. I think it is somewhere different on these models to the rest of the Canon range.....Joy....Comment

try the counter screen...
On most of the newer copiers, the serial number is shown on the counter screen. Either a button on the op panel, or in service mode to display the counter. Also,, don't most reports like the Spec Data List have the serial # in the header?"Once a King, always a King, but once a Knight is enough!"

This is whatthought. But being an MF8450 and not the IRC1021 which is the same machine the MF machine's don't have a counter on. Also service mode is different and very limited. I have tried all this even a p-print doesn't have the serial number on it even in the header. It's stupid!Comment

I have finally found the serial number. It is a tiny sticker on the inside of the front cover. Looks like a school kid has done it! Rediculous.Comment
