Basically, open IR HDD in physical mode, save entire disk to image.

I don't use that method, as I am a certified Canon rep, and have access to all the tools I need to to accomplish the task. there are others here that use this method, and hopefully they will tell you how they accomplish the task with "ghosting" software. Good luck...

Service Support Tool, most recent system software available. That is how it is SUPPOSED to be done.

Sometimes Service Suport Tool gives me headaches; Older machines need older versions don t discard them some day will be useful.

You can use a Canon NetHawk cable (only usb to parallel that works).

You can use a standard IEEE1284 bi-centronics parallel cable with a desktop/laptop that has a parallel port set to ECP mode.

Newer machines can be used with SST via a crossover ethernet cable, but not this one.

Also note that for the IR2200, the firmware you need to use differs depending on whether your copier is networked or not.

This is an excellent reason to hang onto an older laptop that still has the parallel port. I grabbed up an old shop dog for just that purpose.
