    iRC 3480 service mode

Went to a irc 3480 with cq issues. In service mode all the counters in drbl are zero-incl display of the drum life. Since there were two machines on site, I swapped 1 drum unit. The readings did not change even after an auto grad and reboot. Any advice would be welcome!

There is a fuse on the drum unit that gets blown when a new drum is installed. The machine detects whether the drum is new or old. There is a procedure that must be done when troubleshooting a drum issue. I would suggest to hit the books this way you would know for next time.

Point made. However both drbls 1&2 and drum disp were zero for every entry upon arrival. Machine seems fine for now,(still has zero counts on drbls) but want to be prepared for future errors, etc. Was wondering if anybody else has had these issues or symptoms, with this or any model. Thanks for checking this post!

Just for future reference regarding iRC5180/iRC3200 series drum units.
If you turn AINR to "1" BEFORE you fit a drum then the fuse will not blow.
        It's in COPIER/FUNCTION/INSTALL.
This is the best way to test a new drum and a machine that you suspect is having issues that you believe are being caused by the drum without having the drum count reset.
You'll be able to still write the new unit off as such.

I think that was what Screwy was referring to?

Yes. And this same method will also apply to the newer models.

Fun times continue-same machine-moved to another floor-same client. Flashed with ver 91-rui ver is listed as 87.45. User mode and service mode rui is active. However when attempting to access RUI, following message appears-rui contents not found. Previous operator never used rui.
This is the above mentioned machine-73k approx, but drbls were zeroed.
Is this a version mismatch, or am I having some firmware/hdd trouble-no error codes.
Just taken over this account-some new machines and some previous-no log with this particular copier.
Any input or suggestions would cetianly be welcome!
              Thanks!

yes, I did that to blow out previous ip settings after moving the machine to another floor and flashing it.

I think someone been lazy - if you hd format you can get away with a bare bones install(if done single stylee in sst) ie boot, sytem, lang,mn,dc and miss out rui altogehter - although someone could have disabled access to the rui in the upper levels of service mode....

Did you make sure that RUI got written to the hard drive? I would try loading it again and select OVERWRITE in the lower left panel of the SST, to make sure you get a clean load of RUI. It sounds like it is not finding it or that the files in it may be corrupt....

Print out a P-print. Verify that all firmware is loaded, MEAP, RUI, ETC As Mr Fixit mention. Format the hard drive, reload firmware, do a ALL_HDF. Make sure all batch files load. When you are trying to access RUI, is this this from one workstation or multiple workstations. Can you ping the machine. Which browser are you using? You can try Firefox. Check your browser settings, try clearing the temporary files of that browser which you are having problems with. Can you print from the workstation that you are trying to access RUI from? Do you have a laptop? Have you connect direct?. Is (dedicated port) enable.

If you try connecting direct, then you can see if it works. It could be a possibilty that the computers or network is causing this issue.
