I suspect it could be a dirty potential sensor, bad potential contol board/sensor, or primary corona unit.

      Try this

If i were you i would check the primary corona..
      Or Potential control system.
Anoter easy thing could be the drum screw isnt tight.
      Or the MSW2..
Disable potential control by going into service mode Copier > Option > Tempo > F-POT-SW. Now copies can be run.
      1) A solid black copy means laser is defective.
      2) A white copy means you should check the Primary corona and HVT.
      3) A good copy means you should check the Potential sensor PCB.

If it not is one of these things you are in deep shit...

I would replace potential control along with the circuit board.
Last two thing left to change are the primary or DC.

When you turned off Potential control were you able to make copy and if so, how did the copy come out?

After checking or changing the parts mentioned by the above experts ( laser, preconditioning LED, potential sensor, primary assembly & dc controller ). The last thing maybe you need to try is to check the connections, check the wires of the connector.

And good luck...coz E061 is the error code that Canon use on their "Troubleshooting Canon Devices" course that they run for their Techs.
I did the course and copped that error to troubleshoot...
Screwy is correct that the first thing to do is turn off potential sensing and see if you get a good copy without error...if you do you CAN leave it running like that temporarily while you seek further info.

This problem is now happening on me after i replace a new drum. I turn off the potential control and make a copy but when i pull out unit1 and back again it suspended.
