IR2870 RUI lost forgotten username and password

Hi, somehow I have activated a feature on the Cannon IR2870 which results in the username and password now being required to change any features via the RUI and from the machine directly.

I cannot remember the username and password and wondered if there was someway to reset the machine or is there a default username and password that can be used?

Hi Thanks. How do I get to service mode. At the moment the machine requires a department id and password; these i don't know either, as they were never used!

So you are not a technician?

Not a technician. I have inhereted an IR2870 at a Charity Business support Centre. I want to manage the Copier to support multiple organisations/businesses. I am aware much of the configuration can be done via http access. However, I am not familiar with the precise technical aspects of the IR2870. My initial though was to simply reset the machine? or use some sort of default username/password? The end result I am after is to regain accesses to the RUi fuctions, which I did have prior to activating the administrator username/password! Any help to resolve this is immensely appreciated.

I am sure your local Canon dealer would assist you regarding this matter.

You should get a copy of the user manuals and be more careful in future.

To get into service mode is very easy. A google search should enable you to find out how.

Additional Functions (* on button) > 2,8 > Additional Functions (has * on it)

Go to Copier > Function > Clear.

Select the PWD-CLR button and press the ok key. This will clear the password for the system administrator set in user mode.

Turn the copier off using the power switch (not the button on the LCD) wait a while and turn it back on. The password should cleared. You should be able to get in and turn off DepID or change the settings.

Don't do anything else while in Service Mode as you can damage your copier and thus increase your service costs.
