I have a very interesting problem with an iR105. This machine worked fine for 3 years, and has done millions of copies, but last week the biatch started acting up. It had 2 ID codes registered on it, one for the sole user of this machine, the other for the service boys. One day this machine decided screw this, I'm deleting these 2 ID's, and then I'm gonna create 999 of my own ID's. Not only that, but all 999 ID's start with a - (minus), they have random 6 digit passwords (also starting with -), and a copy limit of 999999.
You can try till the tip of your finger has a callus, but you cant log in using any of these ID's. Why?, because you cant put a minus at the beginning. Even better - no access to the menus.
First up - clear the ID code via service mode. which works just fine, you can get into the menu and into Dept ID Management to view all these wonderful codes. NOW, with ID codes disabled, if you cycle the power, she decides that, I want to re-enable the codes... back to square one.
Step two - the firmware upgrade - good luck, because she don't store IP addresses. As soon as you cycle the power IP's a reset to 0.0.0.0. Enter Step 3, the USB to parallel cable - IT WORKS!!!! Now with System, boot, Rui, Language, etc up to the latest level at least she's not forgetfull anymore and remembers to store the IP Address, but the msytery codes are still there, minus and all, and she still deletes whatever codes you store and replaces them with her own, and still re-enables ID codes if you disable them and power cycle.
So, I'm thinking to myself... "wonder if she'll be impressed if i delete all her codes". Option 1... via panel - very arse numbing, option 2 - via RUI. Option 2 it is! Only thing is the RUI doesn't seem to see all her codes, so no editing, deleting, or any of that fun stuff. Also RUI asks for Admin ID and Password. This time round, being from a computer you can start the code and the password with the elusive minus, but alas, she knows its me and wont let me in. Clear the PWD, connect with the RUI, and like i said two sentences ago - the codes aren't there. Finally option 2 - delete ID's via panel - Who needs Xbox when you got this great game... this will keep the kids busy for hours. FINALLY, all codes deleted, the original 2 codes re-registered, and about a 100 power cycles later, she seems happy... until 2 days later, which is today.
