    Canon ir3300 networking help

I volunteer at a non-profit which recently acquired a used Canon ir3300G. I would like to network the copier in with the current printers. The copier is equipped with a MultiPDL C1, which I understand is needed to network, I think.
Here is where my problems comes in - I know just enough about networking things to make the simple things work but when it comes to the options listed on the ir3300 network setup screens - I know just enough to screw it up!

Here is what we have for equipment:
    1 ir3300G with MultiPDL C1
    2 iMacs both running OS X 10.5.8
    1 Linksys BEFSR81 router
2 HP printers (both are working fine on the network)

I tried assigning an IP to the copier but it didn't work. I think I have something else wrong. Also - on the lower left corner display screen on the copier - "check TCP/IP" is displayed.

    Can anybody help?

Do you have the Network Guide?

Go to page 2-11 and follow the instructions there.

You can click the DHCP icon and hopefully you'll get an IP address etc. (you may have to restart using switch on right hand side of copier to turn off, wait a while then turn back on). Once you have an IP address click on the DHCP icon again to make sure it's not filled in with black and save settings.

IP address must be in same range as other devices on your network e.g 192.168.1.x or 192.168.0.x (only specify a number for x between 1 and 254, must not be used by another device). Subnet mask must be same as for other devices. It's probably 255.255.255.0

For this type of message that is displayed. Means, the printer must establish communication with the network, which its not.. Once there is communication the message will disappear. Then go into system settings, network, IP addresss and follow the rest of Bnmand instructions. Install drivers.

That messege can also appear if you have the network cable unplugged from the device
(Often get it when i unplug the cable to replace it with a crossover cable to prove network problems)

The only thing i can add to this is that if you edit Any of the network settings on any canon copier
you MUST reboot the device 1st before they come into effects
