    Canon iR2270 will not print

Trying to set this up on small LAN .

I have installed UFR II and PCL drivers on XP PC and all looks OK. Canon is found by driver install program, I can ping it and Remote UI comes up as normal. But test copy will not print. Spools on the PC and never prints.

So have tried all of following:

    1. Installed driver on laptop and connected via crossover cable- Same result
    2. Connected laptop via USB- same result ( Can see data light flash on Canon, "printing" comes up on control panel but nothing outputs. Log has NG #853.)
    3. Checked HDD, formatted HDD, reseated memory on print PCB, reseated all connectors

Would be pleased to get any advice

    Cheers
    Pat

    Hi Pat,
Are you certain that this box is print enabled? The network port does not mean that it is good to go. You can get to RUI, and ping the beasty without a print kit installed. If you check your Counter button on the op panel, and click on installed options on the bottom of the panel you can see what features have been installed. You need to look for UFR, PCL or PS versions if it can print.

What version BOOT Rom has that device got
If it's only a Version C then thats is typical of what happens
Device recieves it, and falshes, but does nothing else
    Check in service mode>copier>version
You Need a Boot room version P
Also may need some extra memory as well

Memory should be 512MB RAM. There is a 256MB RAM expansion that may need to be installed depending on your region. So you may wish to check the amount of RAM In service mode as well. Copier > Display > ACC-STS > RAM.

You can find print kits if you need them on eBay or maybe Canon or a dealer will still have one available.

        Symptom
Error #853 when printing to the iR/iPR.

The issue in this situation was that no printing options ( PS / PCL / UFRII ) were detected in the "Counter Check" option on the Control Panel. Select the Counter Check button>Device Configuration><Options> if print options were registered, they would show up under the Option heading.

The iR/iPR did indicate that the printing LMS options were installed on the unit. In Service Mode, level 2, Copier > Option ><LCNS-TR>ST-PS / ST-PCL / ST-LXUFRII were all set to "1", indicating a valid LMS license was installed for the print options.

        Action
Clearing the Main Controller in Service Mode resolved the #853 error.

*Once the Main Controller was cleared, the Counter Check option now indicated PS / PCL & UFRII and was able to print with no #853 errors.

        Service Mode> Copier > Function > Clear ><MN-CON>

Note: In this instance, MN-CON was cleared twice to resolve error.

Oze, the IR2270 is not on that list, so I'm not sure if the issue you mention affects it. It could I guess.

Newer copiers may only need a LMS license installed.

The IR2270 has a print kit, BOOT-ROM and 256MB RAM memory expansion (if 512MB RAM in total not already installed), which is needed for printing to work. So perhaps none of the options being detected means that the print kit is not installed. The IR2270 as one of the early copiers to have UFRII as an option does not come with it as standard.
