    HD IR2200

Good Morning Guys, I have an issue that I hope I can get some help with, I am installing a new HD in a canon IR2200 with HITACHI 20gb but it is telling me incorrect hard drive.

I have edited the ift file for the IR2200,

the information I have edited is as follows:

    HDWN 'Hitachi HTS541020G9AT00 '
    HDPI 0000000063442C00C1E1BBEB01000000
    FE060001003F0ABF340C000000000080
    FE060B81344B0FFFFAC500800000003F
    FE0610C12F10D3FF0BC400C000000030
    FE06D4C13AD4FFFF954900F0AA550021

I assuming that something is wrong with the second line.

PLease if any one can help I would appreciate it.

The editted file should be this exactly:

    HDWN 'Hitachi HTS541020G9AT00 '
    HDPI 0000000063442C00C1E1BBEB01000000
    FE060001003F0ABF340C000000000080
    FE060B81344B0FFFFAC500800000003F
    FE0610C12F10D3FF0BC400C000000030
    FE06D4C13AD4FFFF954900F0AA550021

All spaces and tabs should be observed. The formating should resemble the unaltered listings exactly. If that does not work, then you may just have to find the drive listed in my previous posting about hard drive models and google it. I found a couple of vendors that still had that drive,, around $80. There were a few times when my file alteration scheme did not work, even when properly written. I no longer do this as my dealership did not want me involved in the purchasing of drives anymore.

Take care on the HDWN. It is a 40 byte string. It will be 40 character between the 2 ' including space.

When I pasted my revised stuff in the thread authoring window, the ' was spaced properly from the end of the string. When it was submitted, the line was truncated by the newreply editor. That is why I edited my posting to advise making sure the spacing matched the other listings in the original .ift file...

The copier is old enough that almost any flavor of SST will work with the 3300 series. I don't supply software as a rule,,, I provide guidance.

I use an XP desktop. I don't have a laptop with a parallel port.

It's still my favourite copier. If only it had Universal send for scanning and Fixed IP for updating the firmware, and a count for scanning pages using Universal Send it'd do all I'd want it to do, I think.

It is my favorite as well,, know it inside and out. It was my most easily fixed machine. Lots of hard drive fallout on that mk2023gas, but beyond that I feel it is one of the best ones ever.

Kinda wish they would have reissued it,, like the 6650/6650II...

                      Have a great weekend!!
