My Canon PC920 makes a grinding noise when powered on. The scanner lamp and cable assembly can be moved back and forth smoothly by turning the scanner motor so I think the cable is ok. I moved the lamp to the far end by turning the scanner motor and turn on the power. The lamp will move back to its resting position smoothly but then make a grinding noise and error code of E210 displayed. Then I found a piece of broken plastic part inside the copier. Some one has diagnosed as a broken len tension pulley and told me it could be an easy fix. Is it possible to buy the part and do a DIY repair? I am not a technician but am fairly handy. Thanks for your help.

that should be a fairly easy fix. just dont remove the scanner drive cable. if you do that, you will be in trouble.
You should be able to get that part from a canon dealer in your area. you likely wont have any warranty on the part and if something else gets broken, you will be charged for a call. -

Thanks for the info. Do you or anyone knows the part number for the len cable tension pulley? I do not have service manual. Does anyone know where I can download a free service manual? Thanks.Comment

Hi,
Not really sure if this is the right part, but i think this is what you meant... Part Number# FF5-2867-020, Part Name# Pulley, Idler.
It is situated in the upper main body of the copier unit and acts as a lever for the wire to move the scaner drive back and forth.
Hope this helps.Comment
