error connecting to ir5000 using network cable

After installing the driver and after printing something there were nothing coming out from the machine even nothing appear on the screen. Im not pretty sure that my setting was right.

i took a network card from other machine (ir105) and pluged in to the ir5000 machine and set to the fix ip as following:
    ip - 192.168.0.2
    submask - 255.255.255.0
    gateway - 192.168.0.1

from my computer network configuration are:
    ip - 192.168.0.3
    submask - 255.255.255.0
    gateway: 192.168.0.1

im using straight cable at about 7meters long. Is there any problem that u might guess from what i post?

I am sure you have to use parallel cable it wont work via crossover.

Connect PC and printer directly need a cross link cable.
Connect these 2 device through switch need a straight cable if the switch do not support auto polarity.
All the switch now a day can switch btwn straight cable/cross link cable.
Cross link cable also refer as 1326 cable. (1>3,2>6).

I not sure about this as I haven't worked on an iR105 but are the network boards even compatible with an iR5000?, does the iR5000 have an 'N' boot rom for networking and printing?

The parrallel connection on the iR5000 is for firmware updates and doesn't support printing on this connector - I do work on iR5000's so this I am sure about!!!

With out these items it won't matter what you send to print or what settings you put in as nowt will happen.

          Hi,

Ignore my message above I thought you were trying to upgrade firmware.
