    IR-6550 Toner is not set

I'm working on a IR-6550 in my shop at the moment and it keeps throwing a "Toner is not set, Insert toner cartridge" message at me. I've cleaned the contacts on the toner cartridge and the contacts inside the machine. Is there any specific sensor / contact I need to look for? The cartridge is also aftermarket and I was going to recommend to the customer to replace it with an OEM cartridge. Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Tom

I'd say you are on the right track, try an OEM cartridge. Canon has a history of not playing nice with any aftermarket toner or toner cartridges. Anyone remember NP6650 and katun toner? Or 770 Fax cartridges?

Thanks DLP. I told the customer we needed to put in an OEM toner just to test it further, but if the cartridge isn't the case I was leaning more towards the main board. Either way they opted to not fix the machine which makes me a sad panda Thanks again for your help.

I had a 6530 doing that and the fix was to turn VR401 on the Main Controller about a 1/4 turn CW.
