Just picked up a 2870 that had a smashed finisher. Can i program the copier to work without it so that it stops displaying : Remove the paper from the output tray: I am hoping i dont have to remove thee output assembly cause we do not have the covers that were removed when output assembly was installed.....thanks for all replys and happy holidays.

If the machine doesn't have a buffer pass unit(which it does from the sounds of that message) then simply removing the finisher altogether and redirecting the delivery to the top tray of the copier will be enough.
But with a buffer pass unit you need to remove the buffer pass and replace the output flag to it's original position and disable the buffer pass option under service mode.
