    IRC3220 distorted colors

Recently my office just imported this copier and I tested it, printed/copied was good. The dealer came and demostrate , he accidently chip-off the transfer unit. Later testing, the color(Y) was distorted a little off(like having shadows). Shown in attachments.

I tried cleaning the ITB blade, spray a little WD-40 onto the secondary transfer internal roller bearings. Didn't do much good.

I did search other threads saying I might need to adjust the LSU. Service manual didn't mention much about distorting colors.

So, Canon 'sifu' , what other option/faulty places that I might overlook. Or give me extra tips.

I looking at that attachment from my blackberry and the only thing I notice are some spots which appear to look like dents coming from the transfer belt. As for shading I can't notice to much because I looking at the attach file from my blackberry and the resolution isn't detail enough.

Ignore the spots . I dirty the paper. What I'm showing is, I draw a line on the right side. The Yellow is shifted to more left than the other colors. So is red.
I did a test print type 6. Yellow was way off, then comes with red while blue and black are almost together.

        Ok,
Registration is off, common problem with this unit.

Two things I would do first.

1.Clean inside the ITB belt and drive roller on the ITB assy with alcohol and make sure you clean it good.

        2.Adjust your lasers manually,
You would have to pull them out to do so.

But if yellow is off and the rest of the colors are slightly off chances are its the belt that slipping.

Yellow is the first color drop on to the ITB, if the belt is slipping upon initial rotation yellow we be off.

When all colors are shifted by 3mm each usually its the lasers. I would try cleaning the ITB belt first.

Easier way to look at these color copiers for misregistration of color is to run a test page #31. You will see all the little crosshairs do not line up on yours. When all is good, they should all march in a straight line.

Also...in service mode COPIER/FUNCTION/CLEAR you'll see a setting called IMG_REG that settings cleared the stored data and resets to the factory default....ALSO.....make sure that the ATR shutters are working properly...make sure that they're not slightly open.

Problem solved. SCREWTAPE was right about the slip. Especially the drive roller. Before cleaning it with alcohol, the surface was smooth and after cleaning it, the surface became rough. And tested, all colors are aligned perfectly.
Sorry for taking so long to reply. Thanks SIFU SCREWTAPE.
