    just curious....

I got a iR6570 some time back, out of curiosity . How do one load system software . It does not have the usual parallel/printer port but has a USB . I assume it uses USB for firmware upgrades. so
1)is there any special cable required like net hawk.
    2) which version of SST is required.

    thanks

    1.USB stick is one way.
2.Crossover cable with SST is another way.

You can use the latest SST to upgrade.

USB stick is nice to upgrade with, quick and simple.

Not much has change with the procedure.

If you go the USB route, which I agree is pretty sweet, turn off copier, jack in the USB, start copier with 2+8 held down till in download mode, then your choices are displayed on copier screen.

The latest is 4.22 and 4.11 would be the earliest version recommended.
Canon does not supply a usb memory stick for you. You can use you own.

Most 1 gig USB thumbdrives will be adequate for the job. You can store only one version of software on the thumbdrive. The thumbdrive can be prepared from either the SST, or to certified Canon techs, the thumbdrive image can be directly downloaded from the Canon website and copied to the thumbdrive.

We use 8gig sticks and have around 6 models of firmware on it.
The secret is to use SST to register the software onto the thumbdrive for you...it sorts them into folders.

                      Hi Oze,

I did not know that, I had been told one flavor per stick... Sure would speed things up. So the device won't look at all the folders and get confused? I will have to give it a try, I have an 8 gig'r in my bag o' tricks.

                        HI Guys,
Well it seems as if the HDD might have be the problem I am having.

I have the SST 4.11 and ........crap........... cant find the C1 systen CD
I was going to just replace the HDD and software
Cked everything else then D_L_P posted to look at the HDD and might be a boot up problem from the start.
He says its really a problem with these C1's
The usb stick is a great idea,
I didnt want to carry around all the cd's and they are stored in the office
just where I cant find them after moving last month.

That what I am going to do, dl from support to the stick
lots faster that the SST and register firmware.

                        Wow thanks

I have all the T1 software and The fiery.
