Hi can someone help me with code e100 on this little fax

Is it intermittent? If its a hard fail I'd replace the laser assembly.
I remember some of the older faxes having intermittent e100's caused by poor ground. After taking them apart so many times, grounding tabs got bent, frame screws and ground wire screws were missing. We went back and added all the screws and checked all the ground tabs In a couple FX4000's we added a ground wire to the laser assembly (per tech pub i think).
