May not be much help, but a Canon TP says the E808 is related to not pluging one of the conectors in - or a bad controller board. Since it works with the old unit, I would try installing the new unit again and make sure the connector with the yellow and orange wires is seated.

The E808 is due to the thermistors. There's also a possibility that the fuser is defective. If the thermistors are bad the code will appear but will not reset until the fixing film assembly is replaced. Is it new?

As for the connector. It is behind a cover on the side of the machine.
Its a six pin connector with two yellow and two orange wires.
The connector is to the thermistors.

Check those connectors, check the pins. It really doesn't matter whether its new it could still be defective. You never know.
