The drums reset themselves when you change them

      Hi krirish

you can order the related chip set from SCC and replace it. This chip set is on the back side of the drum unit, each color has its own chip set.

        Yea that not bad idea.

        "IF"
The fuse its self is bad and the drum is good.

        "BUT"
If the drum is bad or at the end of its life. Switching the fuse is not gonna do so much plus, other things or going to happen. Readings for ATR are gonna be going crazy and also a number of other problems.

Screwtape ,Yes, I agree with you, the main problem is the related developer or starter is hard to order, we can only order drum and cleaning brush and toner, If we have developer so we will have chance trying to rebuild this drum unit.

you have to change all the developer if you want to rebuil a drum unit.but sad to say there is no developer availabla in the ,market so the thing to do is to order a new set of expensive drum unit.

Of course that stuff is available. Been buying rebuilt drums from Illinois for a year now. Start researching!

                    Hi,

I am like you and want to rebuild these drum units - I was wondering if you had any luck in sourcing the developer - I also wondered if Canon IR6800C developer was the same as the developer in a IRC3200? But are neg non magnetic toner.

Any help you can give would be really great - I am a Canon technician in the UK by the way.

                    Thanks

                    Mark

As per what I have being able to find out. Yes the Developer for the Canon IR-C3200/3220/4080/5180/5185 is the same developer of the Canon IR-C5800/6800. The only problem is the Black Unit. In which this mention Canon IR-C6800 doesn't have black developer.

I have not rebuilt a unit still with this developer, but will use this developer when the time comes.

                      Good Luck.

                        Hi Rad,

Thanks for the reply. I'll try the 6800 dev in a 3220 and see what happens. I'll weigh a brand new unit and then empty an old unit and weigh that to tell me how much dev to put in.

Question-there is a chip embedded into the drum unit at the back-if I fit a new drum and give it a dev change then what effect will NOT changing the chip have-other than the machine displaying a very high drum life figure.

                        Many thanks again

                        Mark

They sell the chip in Uninetimaging.com they have the Chip for the Drum and the toner of the Canon IR-C3200.

                          Thxs,

                            Thanks again,

What would be the effect of not replacing the chip if I do replace the drum and dev?

I just wonder if the chip does anything other than reset the drum life counter and tell the machine the colour of the dev unit.

                            Cheers

                            Mark

The copier has a internal counter that order a new drum every 40,000 copies (I think not sure the amount) and then if the drum unit is not change it blocks the copier from proceding to make copies. There is were the chip come and make it's work of resetting this counter.
