    iRC3380 without copy function

Got a iRC3380 which doesn't have the copy function on the panel,
    Check in the service mode> level 2> copier> option> body. Doesn't have the UI-Copy.
What could be the problem? Am i missing any setting or could it be the firmware?
Anybody willing to land me a helping hand would be appreciated.
    Thanks

check the connection between your main unit and the scanner. If it does not see the scanner you will not get the UI-Copy in service mode.

      Dear Charm 5496,
Thanks for the reply. Need more input, if there is no connection between the main unit and the scanner, Shouldn't it be an error code? Also, can this machine be configure to be a printer only like CP660 or iRC624? Strange thing is when i check in the counter in the service mode, i can see that the copy function can be use before this.

      Thanks

That really is the main point, that this machine can exist without the scanner attached, and may be your issue. Thought of this last night,,, do you have fax installed on this copier, or scanning? If so try those functions to see if the scanner works for those. Another test might be the scan lamp test, to see if you can light up the lamp under service mode...

As mrfixit said you can disconnect the scanner from most of the IR series to stop the copy function. I would check the functionality of your scanner to see if it responding. You should see it move and turn on during initial rotation when turning the unit on and is should also move when lifting the DADF.

Service mode....Copier/Option/Body...make sure W/SCNR is set to a 1. This tells machine it has a reader attached to it. It should detect it automatically so you might have bigger problems

              Try replacing the main controller.
