Need System software for IR3300 and What HDD can be used?

Hi. In IR3300 the HDD is faulty and i need to replace the HDD can i install the system software in 80GB or 160GB HDD which is available in market. Also need System software, Pls Sent it to my Email abkonnet@yahoo.co.in

You need a compatible hdd (replacement instructions are in the service manual) e.g. the ones canon sells to techs.
You also need a IEEE1284 bi-centronics parallel cable (any one of these will do, will work with a parallel port set to ECP mode, ideally use Windows XP) or a nethawk cable (special canon usb-to-parallel cable, the only one that works with SST).
You will also need the Service Support Tool (SST).
You will also need the IR3300 firmware (same as IR2200). Note networked firmware is different and IR3300i (uses same firmware as IR2200i) uses different firmware again.
Instructions for using SST are in the SST manual.

If you have all those things, read the instructions in the manuals and post again if you have issues.

If you want to go cheap you can get the SeaGate ST980815A for example and modify the HDFormat.ift file (see these instructions)

The stuff you need to use from the hdd (I haven't tested this myself but was told by someone else - make sure the 's are in the right place as per the pdf):

just do it, you don't need SST.

I normally just clone HDD much easier than going for SST.

Cloning may be easier, but SST is the safest, best method imo. Also different machines have different options installed so you still need SST to install the firmware for options such as fax, networked firmware (perhaps, you may wish to have a clone for networked and for not networked).

Also for cloning you need a working hard drive from that model copier to copy.
