compare ricoh 2105 and Canon ir7105

    Hello,

i am looking for printer for cheap book production.
Can you compare these two machines ? I guess Canon ir7105 is better and more expensive. Also, is the Canon ir7105 reliable ? I have searched about ricoh 2105 and people says it is old but excellent machine.

    Please give me a advice
    thank you

7105 is a great machine. I love working on them. The major problems that the IR-105 had were improved on and it is easy to service this unit.
Have never touched a Ricoh so I can't comment on that for you. Although any company that is down that far in debt might not be around long enough to worry about.
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.

        dear dark;
canon is a canon like we said about Mercedes.
it is clean M/C but ricoh is always considered a dirty m/c's with developer u need to change at certain time and a drum too. canon is expensive but long lasting with no hassle.a customer of mine has 2 of 7105
he produce 1 million a month for both and he only buy toner from me.
by the way i sell him toner for use in canon gp605 (KATUN) and it works very good!!!!

I would really not recommend using anything but genuine canon toner.
          That's just my two cents..

I totally agree with Screwtape...Non Canon toner....poor halftones, early parts failure. You get what you pay for!!! I did a study on Katun toner versus Canon toner on a bunch of 105's,8500's,7105's. The conclusion? You use approximately 2.2 times more competitive toner than you would genuine Canon toner. Waste bottles fill up quicker, cleaner blades and DRUMS($$$$$) don't last their expected life. To my customers the half tone quality is unacceptable using aftermarket toner. DO THE MATH!!!

That was not our experience in the middle US,, while our toner costs were lower, we were fighting too many other issues that ate up that savings, so we switched back to genuine canon.

                  dear fixit51,
the case in Egypt is totally diff. the Indian toner is to cheep and the quality is good, also katun products for canon is more than satisfying. in Ricoh the case is diff. and oem toners and spares are more cheaper if compared to any after market products concerning life time and quality.(I worked for katun only for 12 months), u can say I'm biased to katun, did u try katun toners for IR products?

                    Hi Raoufselwaness,

Yes, we did. We have used their toner, drums, and feed rollers. All were cheaper, but all did not last as long as Canon, and some caused additional problems, creating more service calls which creates more expense and customer concerns. So we totally use Canon supplies and parts now. In the long run, the overall costs may be equal, but time between visits increases the customer confidence.
