It has been a while, but I am pretty sure that the CLC-5000 did not connect to any SST. This device did not have a HDD or rewritable ROM chips in it.
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.

Double checked myself after reading your reply and I can not find anything on SST on this unit. Is the model machine you are working?

Or are you working on a different european version of an IRC?
The CLC series used a program called PCB downloader here in the US

          Upgrading
The CLC5000 is equipped with two DIMMs (4 MB and 2 MB each) on
which a flash ROM is mounted; one of the DIMMs is used to store
Firmware for the reader controller (4 MB) and the other is used to store the
Firmware for the DC controller (2 MB). A Personal Computer is required
when installing upgraded firmware. Use Bicentronics I/F cable6 as an
interface between the personal computer and the CLC5000 to enable
high-speed transmission of the data. The required time to complete the
          upgrade is approximately ten minutes.
The firmware may be upgraded in any of two ways:
          1) Downloading using a PC
          or
          2) Replacing the DIMMS

Last update was in 2004>>>>>>DCON v12.03 RCON v12.07
