LDAP and communication with the network

Hello, have a used canon 5185 I've been trying to get the email working for for a few days now. Tried almost everything. Users can print to it, but can't scan to email.

Have registered the LDAP, have enabled scan to email via web configure interface, have added it to the active directory as a user. Still can't access server and get users or addresses. Have created an email address for it.
    Still no luck. Any ideas?

When we tried out a sharp, the scan to email was absolutely simple and worked. What am I missing here?

Well one thing I just realized, is that LDAP is not enabled in the web interface. OK, tried to enable it but keep getting "server name invalid or unavailable"

Find out what your error codes are listed under Print Monitor>Send>Log>Print Log , those codes may help you find your problem.

I had a scan to email problem, and found that I did not have the domain listed in the network setup, as well as having SMTP receipts turned on. I entered the domain, turned receipts off, and my issue was solved.

      Good luck

Silly question, but have you tried using the IP address of the email / LDAP server?
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.

Have you set up the exchange server Info (Name or IP address)
Given the device an email address (ie.. noreply@********.com)
          Does this need authenication.

Yes, given the printer an email add, we don't have exchange running.

Thanks for all the help. These screenshots are what I'm having trouble with. The printer has an email, scantoemail@...., a name, canon5185. but none of these work, nor the ip addresses of either the printer or server. Any ideas?

                  uncheck secure comm
                  check authentication req
                  type: simple
user name: name of "user" created on server as if employee
                  pw: created with above
                  domain: workgroup
                  advanced:
                  search base: blank

Now that it is validated, however, this doesn't mean that I can access the server or scan to email. This now has me stumped again.

Sounds to me like the SMTP is still not configured right. For what it is worth, when I have a problem like this at a client's location, I first clear MMI, reconfigure their TCP/IP, go to one of their computers with e-mail that works, look at the settings, and insert them into the machine. You may also want to verify the DNS settings.

If you are not running Exchange Server for your SMTP - what are you using? If something like GMail - you need to make sure you get the advance settings (like SSL) set right.
