    Canon ir5000i - 3320i - scan to folder problems

    Have a problem with one of these at a bank and its kicking my bu**. On the scan to a folder it will not let me get to the folder I need to scan to. When I try to log on to the computer it rejects the user/password and says something like check the destination, user name or password. I don't think it has anything to do with having administrator priviliges. We have on at the shop we tried this on and could get to some folders with a user/password and some we could not. I tried to get to a folder on my computer with my user/password with no problem. Used the bosses user/password (also a administrator) and he could not get to my folders. I could get to several other peoples folders using my user/password and then some I could not. We are both using server 2003. Never seen this before, anyone ever run in to this problem? Anyone have a fix or a suggestion? Thanks

    i used to face similar problems but here are some factors that are causing this error. You need to ask yourself a couple of questions.

    1. Is your computer behind a 3rd party firewall application (e.g norton/mcafee) <--- u will need to disable your firewall.
    2. is your router password protected (e.g buffalo routers) <---- some routers need a user/password to allow access. you will need to exclude the IP address of the copier for installation
    3. are you using windows vista or windows 7 <------ you will need to set some of the settings at the network security centre. enable public sharing, user can create/delete or edit files, turn password protect to off.
    4. when u are in SMB browse mode, try manually keying in the file path (e.g \\kubypc\scan) followed by keying in your username/ password this way (e.g yourworkgroup or domain/yourusername) and (password)

    Try it. majority of the time, this is caused by 3rd party firewall applications. hope this helps

      Thanks for the suggestions. I will try keying in the file path suggestion. I know it is not a firewall problem. My boss can not get to folders on my computer. If that were the case I would not be able to get to them either. He has the same premissions I have.

      Thanks

        1. Open the Default Domain Controllers Policy.
        2. Open the Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options folder.
        3. Locate the Microsoft network server: Digitally sign communications (always) policy setting, and then click Disabled or Do Not Configure

        prevent SMB signing from being required on all domain controllers that run Windows Server 2003 in a domain.
        When you enter the credentials (user name and password) to log on, they are rejected, when
        Active Directory 2003 is used for the domain.

          Got it fixed, have to put the domain\user name and password format.

          ==========================

          Well it worked a little bit. Would let us log into our workstations and folders, but the bank still can not log in to a folder.

          Back to the drawing board.
