    THANKS

    E355 ___Warning **** u can not swap counter pcb's
    Put back all original
    PCBs into machine!
    Do not use a used
    Counter Memory PCB
    or Serial Number PCB
    from another machine.

Did you replace a main controller and not leave the counter pcb with the original machine? The most common reason for this code is forgetting to put the counter board on the replaced main controller or switching counter pcb's between machines.

The counter pcb's must stay with their original machine they cannot moved to another machine. The serial number pcb and counter pcb are "married" together, and must stay together.

    After
    Action has been
    corrected, perform an the
    E355 Clear

    1. Enter Service Mode: Press * Additional Functions, 2&8 simultaneously, then * Additional Functions again.
    2. Then select the [COPIER] option. Under [COPIER], select the Function tab.
    3. Under the [FUNCTION] tab, select the [CLEAR] option.
    4. In [CLEAR] there is a selection E355-CLR. Select it and hit OK.
    5. Reboot the machine.

also- an E355 error code can be due to no communication between the Main-Controller board and the Serial Number board below it.
The boards are connected by a 11 PIN yellow connector and cable. The connector must be seated firmly on the board.

The counter chip is married to the main controller.
You can not remove it or change it.
This is a control part from Canon.
