I have one with this code just started coming up intermittently, E716 communication between the pedestal and DC controller. It will reset and run OK for a couple days and come back. I've ordered the DC com and pedestal PCB but I though I'd ask here too. Any ideas?

An update. Been working fine for 2 weeks but they called back in today with the E716. Got there and it was working fine. I opened up the pedistal and reseated all the connectors. When I turned it on it did not see the finisher, no errors and it wasn't in limited functions. Made a copy but didn't know there was a finisher attached.
I powered OFF/ON and while it was booting reached back and grabbed the cable going from the finisher to copier and saw an orange light come on and a beep, open door maybe? When I let go and looked at the control panel it was still booting but then the trays started to home and the copier went into initial rotation. When it came ready it saw the finisher and worked fine. I wiggled the heck outta that cable while it was making copies but it never had a problem. Now, I'm not totally sure about the cable but am going to order it anyway.
Also, when I mentioned it not seeing the finisher to the customer they said it has done that a few times but they just rebooted it and then it worked fine. I wish I had more customers like this! I guess I have 2 intermittent problems now that might be one in the same since the finisher is attached to the pedistal, the E716 and not recognizing the finisher. I'm going to try reflashing the firmware and the PCB in the pedistal. What do you guys/gals think? Any ideas?Comment

E716 is a Cassette Feed Unit / Pedestal communication error
On the imageRUNNER C5185 series the Finisher, the Reader and the Pedestal / Cassette Feed Unit all communicate through the Cassette feeding Unit / Pedestal Controller
****did u take apart that square connector plug like i posted/ i have seen this issue over ten times with poor connector connections in this plug/ they are not sitting tight / easy fix**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**Comment

Yes. I did the one where the finisher plugs into the pedistal and the one where the pedistal plugs into the main engine. Sounds like this might solve my 716 issue. I'll let you know if the cable fixes the not recognizing the finisher.Comment
