    problems with f1 finisher

Hello, I have a problem with a f1 finisher on a ir-5020 that has started to give me a problem.
when you first turn it on the finisher cycles the paper tray goes to the bottom and makes a clicking noise like it is having a hard time returning to the top.If I leave it alone it codes the following : E000540-0001.
I can help it by lifting up, and it works.Anyone have any ideas?

There's a good chance that a sensor in the rear side channel is knocked out of place.
Remove the back covers and look for a sensor mounted on a plate about midway in the channel.

Check for backed out screws on the panels and rails. Keeps bins from going back up.

The guys are right,, the clicking noise is because the finisher is still trying to lower the tray to "make" a sensor at the bottom of it's travel. If the sensor is dead or knocked out of place that will not occur. This is the same symptom that customers sometimes instigate by placing boxes or garbage cans under the trays, limiting the tray's downward travel...
