    Fiery scan tool is how.

My question to you is. Why do you want to limit yourself when you have better option with universal send.
There are ways to secure your folder settings, you can make them private where as no can get access to them.

because if i enable file sharing on my mac and someone knows my password they can access MY ENTIRE DRIVE. ya they can also sit at my computer and do that, but i dont want them to be able to do it over network. I think i will do that way with a shared folder on a NAS

To get to the Fiery mailbox press the Printer tab, between send and mailbox. From there press Printer Status/Settings -> Functions -> Scan Job.

From there you need to add your destination which will be the mailbox, before you start the scan. Add Destination -> Send to Mailbox -> Enter box # and press ok. Then you will be back at the scan job screen, select Start Scan and name the file.

Then from your computer start the Fiery remote scan software and you should see jobs in the mailbox. You do not need to install Fiery Twain software. I'm pretty sure you don't need File and printer sharing turned on for this to work either since it is the Fiery Scan tool pulling an image from the Fiery HDD, similar to IE loading a web page.
