So I have gone thru and the LAN Settings, entering my ip, subnet mast, default gtwy, etc.. Still, when I scan a doc, I am getting an ERROR TX REPORT, tx function was not completed, error message NG #0802

When I select my memory number, it indicates "not available now"

Here are the things I am certain of. I have the correct IP Address and DNS server, i pulled that off of my "properties" under my only active network. I pulled the info from my Outlook account, incoming and outgoing mail server.

On the flip side, I am not really sure what my HOST NAME is. I have entered the name of the network, but I am not confident that is what the Canon is looking for, and the DOMAIN NAME, I have entered my business domain (no www, no http://www, just domainname.com) Even if these things are entered incorrectly, I am not sure that it is resulting in the problem I am having. Not sure.

did u print out the settings before this all clear >??????
Remember _u did an all clear on this machine
Performing an All Clear will cause all the settings on the copier (network settings, speed dials, etc) to be erased. It will restore the machine back to factory defaults. The machine will need to be reconfigured.

Check that the SMTP server or DNS server is working properly. Check the settings of the SMTP server name, the DNS server name, the domain name and the host name from the NETWORK SETTINGS menu.

          imageRUNNER 1600 / 2000 / 2010F
          RUI Issues

Sometimes, a user may not be able to connect to the imageRUNNER using the RUI, while at the same time, the same user is able to print to and PING the machine. In this case, the RUI functionality appears to be locked up and may require that the machine's system software be reinstalled.

          Solution :
Before reinstalling the system software, try to initialize the system by performing the 'Cold Reset Letter' operation. This is a Service Mode operation and can be executed by doing the following: 1. Take the unit 'Off-line' [press the Copy/Print Mode key or press the Online button to turn the online lamp off].
          2. Enter Service Mode by pressing Additional Functions, then #.
          3. Use the search keys (>) to locate '#8 PDL' then press the OK button.
          4. Search for the 'PDL - PCL Menu' menu then hit OK (the display may show Cold Reset A4).
          5. Search for 'Cold Reset Letter' then press OK.
The system will display Cold Reset LTR, then it will initialize. You should now be able to connect to the imageRUNNER with the RUI.

Teck, when I did the all clear, I re-entered the info. I am not really sure what my HOST NAME is. I am going to try your RUI instructions. It is a pain having to enter all data on the machine. thank you!

Why don't you try pinging your domian name to find out what the IP address is and use the IP address as your SMTP rather than using you (www.host name.com). Then give the machine a email address.
Why don't you try scanning to file folder.

Screwtape, I located my ip address of my domain name, but I am stuck with a newly developed problem. I guess i am going to have to do another all clear function and start all over.

Try doing 'All Clear' The 'All Clear' can be accessed in Service Mode by Additional Functions > ID> #12 Clear> All > OK and power cycling the machine.
For the "this function requires additional Equip". Your missing hardware probably. Try doing 'All Clear'. Did this machine ever do functions like this before(emailing ,printing)???

When you bought the machine did you ask the seller if it had these capabillities.

I just got the machine, but yes, I had it set to fax, copy and print. I had not yet set up the email function, I found it difficult. However, this error message not having the ability to access the LAN settings, and Network settings just occurred when I followed the directions above for the RUI. I know how to do the ALL Clear, but I hate to have to do it again when I am manually entering all of the info into the machine again. It is time consuming. =(

Host name is aka the computer name. Your computer has a unique name to identify it on the network, you need to give the copier a unique name that identifies it on the network also. You can name it just about anything you want, but typically I see the model followed by the last 4 digits of the serial number.

You also need to add a reply address, in the Fax-> LAN-> SMTP->Optional settings. You will get errors because the SMTP server sees a To address in the e-mail you are sending but does not see a From address. Typically I see Canon.Copier@yourdomain.com
