    [Misc] iR7105 Punch Issues

I have a funny one that i really do some info help on

    iR7105 with a V2 Finisher with a Int. Punch
One member of my team have updated the machine from V1 firmware to V2 80.02
Now this is where the fun begins
Since then the customer has not been able to use the punch options

If the customer selects the Punch option "ALL" the paper trays are then grayed out
If then Punch is De-selected the trays then come back.

I have tried downgrading the firmware to V2 78.02 but it's the same
I have also upgraded the V2 finisher to V20.02, and still the same
Also have checked the PSEL option in service mode and it'sset to "0"
(If it's set to 1,the Punch optionis turned on so that you can pick between Int Finisher Punch or Pro Punch)

SO i have now been left scratching my head, and one very upset customer

    Any help is greatful

    Many Thanks

Very odd issue. Have you checked the limited functions in additional functions? If you page down there you can also see limited functions for the punch unit.

When I did my system software upgrade to this level, I forgot to flash the finishers up to the latest level as well. I was not able to print stuff out from the misc-p. I researched it and found that the strange occurrence was caused by the mismatch in software levels. It would not surprise me if this is your problem as well. I don't load firmware for all the accessories on my laptop, so that is why I missed that step. Make sure you load the finisher, DADF, and puncher updates into SST and re-image the device...

Select overwrite as the update method.

Make sure the system software and language are same version v80.02
Finisher V1/V2 ver. is now 22.01/ inc. with v80.02
Puncher A1 ver. is v10.02/ also on v80.02

+ Perfect Binder-A1 must be upgraded to be
compatible with the imageRUNNER 7105 V2 Series v55.05 or
        higher.

I worked on a 7105 today and put it in limited functions for the puncher. The hole punch was greyed out so I don't think that's your issue, just ignore my suggestion . I think it will probably be what MrFixit suggested. Another thing to check, did the other tech flip any dip switches on the puncher in an attempt to get the puncher going?

Kinda unrelated. I was unable to get that special cable just for flashing the finisher to work with my laptop, but I was able to do it using SST a crossover cable and going into download mode from service mode. MrFixit, I'm curious which way you flashed the firmware for the finisher? Has anyone used that special serial cable that plugs into the finisher to flash it?

              Hi D_L_P,
I used the crossover and SST to affect the upgrade to the finisher. I have used that serial cable device on an iRC4580 finisher to get it up to spec.

              Hi teckat,
Yes, the 7105 series supports the USB stick. I have used the USB stick to upgrade the color advance boxes, but did not use that option on my 7095. All devices that support USB are noted in my latest software listing...

Quick note > if the USB Firmware does not list the machines Accessories Firmware in it's folder per machine model , they will not be updated.

Finisher data normally flashed with the Service Support Tool and the Serial Down-loader PCB cannot be flashed with a USB Memory Device.

On the imageRUNNER 7105 u can use USB to update-Binder-A1, Finisher-V1/V2, Stacker-
                A1, Puncher-A1/ but not the DADF-Q1,that needs
                Serial Down-loader PCB

On the imagePRESS C7000VP Series u can use USB for Binder-B1, Deck-A1, Finisher-
                AB1/AB2, Stacker-C1, Deck-A1 - Firmware updates

Maybe next week if I'm really ambitious I'll try and figure out that cable and make a new thread.
Thanks MrFixit, have a good weekend.

                    Hi,

Anyone got info on what the dip switches should be set to on English 4 hole punch or Swedish 4 hole punch?

                    Thanks,

                    Shazza
