    [Error Code] iR C4080 E000020-0134

I'm getting a E000020-0134 error on a iR C4080 after replacing all 4 drum units. Before the drum replacement, the copier was only producing black copies. The color copies were coming out with faded yellow and magenta.

    Please advise.

this error means, that the yellow pattern on the transfer belt is not there or too weak (yellow is first read, if i remember correctly) , at first i would try to make a solid print of c, mg, y, bk; interrupt the printing process by openening the door and see, if the correspondig drum is covered of toner, to distinguish if its drum related or transfer related.

I'm sorry, I forgot to include the following detail:

When I turn on the copier, the message on the screen reads "Adjusting gradation. Please wait a moment". After about a minute, the error message I described in my original post pops up and the only option I am given on the screen is a shutdown button. It's not allowing me the opportunity to make a copy.

Take out the yellow drum kind of tilt from side to side.

These were brand new drums right.

If the code does not go away try replacing the transfer belt and transfer primary rollers.

When was the last time those items were replaced.

What is the count on the machine?

The machine wants to adjust but yellow is coding out. Yellow is the first color laid down on the ITB belt.

The patch read sensor is not picking up the right mixture of toner and developer when yellow is being laid onto the ITB belt.

Check the image patch sensor as well.

Remove the right small cover above the reg drawer assembly..1 screw,5 seconds..reboot the machine and watch the patches being developed on the ITB while it is adjusting....go from there. Always shake level the drum units on any machine that has the dev as part of the drum unit. Did you put the log cover back on? It has the actuator for the shutter for the patch reader on it

did u work in back of machine before issue ??

try this first>put back old yellow drum/see if code pops up/ if so, u may need a new yellow drum

check ITB/ do a visual check of ITB patches/ if u do not see yellow>Remove the yellow drum and marked all the drive gears on the back of it/ replace-then check to see if they turned during initial rotation.

I had a technician check the copiers and he thought that the drum units were bad . We swapped the new drum units into another copier and they worked fine. The used drum units from the other copier work on the broken copier but still don't produce all the colors.

At the moment, I'm waiting for a new support contract. It doesn't look like this is something that I'm going to be able to fix. I'm hoping that I can at least put the copier in service by allowing only black and white copies. Is there a way to disable the options on the copier screen for color and auto color detection?

                Thank you.

Set the machine for black copies (on touch screen - top left area). Go into additional functions, Copy Settings, Standard Settings (not standard key settings) and press "store". If you need to print black only from a computer just set to black in the print driver.

even if you default it to black,it is still going to do auto gradations

                      That will not work.

                        That's right.

                        I've tried this.

                        Its a no go.

I used to have these errors allot on IRC3200 drums, brandnew the copper contact-springs on the back of the drum are not making solid contact. ATR control on a new drum was not possible so E0020-0x34 pops up. Closing the gap on the contact springs was enough.

Since your problems are not the drums, it could be HVT not supplying enough BIAS, try reseating the HVT cables on the HV box on the back. I remember Y+M sharing one off the HV boards.

                          Goodluck
