We have customer who would like to put two 5800's on contract. Any major issues to look out for in regards to these copiers. Thanks for feedback.

hmm, no irc5800 here in europe. Did you meant the IR5800C ?

Nope... don't do it unless you want to share office space with this customer. The C6800 series are needy, labor intensive machines that give techs grey hair. If this is already a "sales already promised us" kinda deal, I would be very clear about your contract. Do an inspection and be prepared to put new starter in the developers (or replace them and restart them if they are old style) and rebuild the Fixing Assemblies at customers expense. Even after that I would not give them both parts and labor if you can, I would give them either one or the other. Depends what you like to eat more, parts or labor. Just be advised the Fixing Assembly is pretty standard as far as time goes to rebuild (and you will rebuild it every few months) putting new starter in developers will take no less than an hour the first couple times tech does it if they have never done it before.

Let me look inside my crystal ball (got it from the sales manager desk drawer next to the 'Copiers For Dummies' Book)... for you my friend... I see years of heartache....techs covered in toner and grease... wandering around aimlessly in parking lots... muttering to themselves about 'evil engineers who invented rotary systems' and 'spongy primary rollers'...growing to resent you...

        just kidding, good luck.
The glass maybe half full, but less is more...
Printer + Fax + Copier = Jack Of Many Trades,
        but Master Of None
Color Copier = Not A Color Printer
InkJet MFP = Not A Fax Machine
        B/W Copier = Not A Press
Finisher = Deal Closer (salesman, not accessory)
Copier Tech = Admin's Stress Ball (Scapegoat)

I could not have explained it any better than CanonHPTech,,, these were bad enough when they started out new, but to take responsibility for a pair of USED ones, and have no gravy to offset the inevitable gristle of these machines, would be a sad mistake my friend...

Simply say to your customer, "No thank You!"

Get sales involved, and get them into some Advanced Color boxes that will serve them better without eating you alive.
