iR3300i scan gear not working

Hi guys,

Have a unit of Canon iR3300i where the scan gear is not working.

From computer can't discover the machine and have tried manualy by setting the IP address pointing to the machine still cannot discover this machine. Instead the computer will discover orther machine. For printing job to machine no problem.

Is it something to do with the RUI version to low ? Current RUI version 5.03

Any come across ?

Was copier turned off/on after the IP change? IP settings only become effective after a reboot, and then takes a minute or two for the network card to wake up. Create a mini network with a laptop, crossover cable, and the copier. Set the address's up on the two and try to communicate between them. You should be able to pull up the RUI of the copier even if it is old if the network settings are correct.

you need to make sure that 'Dedicated Port' is set to on. If this is turned off, scangear will not work. I believe it is under Network settings.

Old version or not, the RUI should still "answer the phone" if the network is set up correctly...

also.. just because no one else has mentioned it. Make sure you didn't get a hold of color network scangear. What version of Scangear are you using?

Is the 3300 on the same subnet? Scangear won't work across different subnet addresses. Good call about the dedicated port.

Also, why would they want to use scangear with a 3300i and not scan to folder or email?
