Hi folks.I have a fault on a canon ir 5000 with "check hopper connection" showing on the display. There is no error code showing and I checked the toner hopper connector and that is connected. There are 2 plastic actuators that allow a new toner to be fitted are broken so that the toner hoppper cover cannot move across but I don't know if this has any bearing on the fault.I have limited experience on these m/cs so I would appreciate any input.Cheers

Online research showed that M5 motor in hopper can short out and also take out the DC Controller board... Start with the motor, and if that does not get it, go for the controller board. Make sure you don't try the board first, as the bad motor can fry the new board.
Hell, replace both motors to be safe, or swap the hopper from a parts donor, then go to the board ..."Once a King, always a King, but once a Knight is enough!"
