Color shift during a run, regardless of length, is not a RIP issue.
How could it possibly be? The RIP's job is to send the exact same data over and over until the job is done. It has no way to compensate during the run.
The only conceivable way I could see the RIP causing the the problem would be a hardware issue where the interface card, cable, or possibly the power supply was wigging out.
We've suspected this a few times over the years, but it never turned out to be the culprit.
