[Error Code] Canon imagerunner" cannot send to file"

    Hi
I'm new to the imagerunner c5870u and it is already preconfigured from a previous tech who worked at my firm-
When i click send it has some people on our network configured to do one click sending to file but for one person it does not work.
I looked at the path it sends to (usernameX/scanned-docs) which i ensured exists on the users computer which it did..
I dont know how to edit any settings on the printer because it didnt come with a manual
basically i just need to get it to be able to send to him.
I do not get an error code which means im assuming its sending the files somewhere
Any help would mean the world to me
    Thanks!!!!!!!

Simplest thing to do is to look at the complete setup on one that is working. Issue is probably something along the lines of an invalid userID/password on the target system. Easiest way to "check" or change things is via the RUI. If you are a tech (you implied you are) - all the imagerunners work along the same lines (for scan to file). If you are an end user, just go online and see what manuals you can find.

usernameX/scanned-docs implies that its sending the file to Hostname: usernameX, which would lead the the computer that is named (it's hostname is) usernameX. On this computer, a folder is shared with sharename: scanned-docs.

U should check out the hostname of that users computer is the same as usernameX, than check the shared folders on that pc. Like in Manage this computer, shared folders, shares. Maybe the share named scanned-docs leads to another folder on this pc.

      Good luck

To make it complete: the syntax in (one touch) adressbook
      Hostname: destination hostname/sharename
Folder path: any subfolders within this shared folder
username: username of the user which has rights to the folder, this could be domain/username format also.
Password: no explanation needed i think.

Al is done in adressbook, there are no other settings in *@.

Found the name of that computer and the workgroup that it is under that you are trying scan too. Create a folder on the desktop, or the (C drive.Name it, share it out ,give all permissions to everyone.

Go to additional functions>address boook setting>register address>register new address>File>Add the name for the folder>Protocol>windows smb>browse.

You should see a workgroup of which that computer you trying to scan too should be under. As you hit the arrows on the screen its going to open that workgroup. depending on how many computers that are set up on this workgroup just look for the name that matches that computer that you are trying to scan too. Continue to hit the arrows, its gonna prompt you for a user name and password of that login user for that computer.

You should then see that folder that you created, select it, continue on press ok done.

Try send a document. If the processing light stays green then its not going thru.

Repeat the steps or check that computer.

...you might want to check on that person PC Firewall. Try disabling it for a while (NOT PERMANENTLY) to test. Had bad experienced with "Norton Smart Firewall" & Acer PC's which came in with eEmpowering Technology.....good luck

Guys, no error means the file was succesfully sent somewhere on his network. Checking the hostname and share with the computer and shared folder is the route to go. Maybe the users computer isn;t called usernameX for this specific user.
