Need Some Comments On IR 1600 and IR 1610

Hi, I would like to ask some comments and feedback on the machine IR 1600 and IR 1610. What are the advantage and disadvantage of this unit? I would also like to know the errors or problems that mostly occurs on this machine and how well is it when it comes to PC connectivity. Does it have any issues on operating systems or other softwares? Hope you can give some advice on this. Thank you very much

I am not a fan of this unit because it is a fax machine that wants to be a copier. Having said that, I have had only a few, want to take it to the trash moments, problems. If you work it easy, feed it good paper, bath it, it should be fine. As for set up, not too bad if you follow directions. It is just too slow and limited compaired to the rest of the stuff I work on.
Yes, I am here to fix your machine. No, your machine went out of warranty 18 years ago.

That unit came out in 2002 and retailed for about $2500 with no options installed. Was fairly reliable and Not a bad model for light duty offices but it's getting a bit older now.Still worth something if it has the network printer option installed.

Strengths---cheap to run. Drum unit only $74 retail. Toner 440grams $30. Very affordable copies and prints for end user.
Downfalls---no scan or fax options were avail for this model, and no duplex.

The IR1610F can fax, 1600 won't. My bias creeps in with the service mode this unit has. Anything like this, in my mind is a fax machine that copies. I place the IR2020 as a fax machine. I am sorry if this is misleading, but old habits die hard.

              Don't quote me on this...

I believe the fax board could be added to the 1600 as an option, but came pre-installed on the 1610.

Your welcome friend....hope I didn't rub ya the wrong way correcting you. And now I have to correct myself. I said duplex not available for this model. Canon states that this unit has (LOL) "manual duplex" .

No problem, I did start with the "don't quote me" caveat, glad you caught my goof. I need ya to be there when I fall down so you can pick me up and send me on my way....
