E-732. Reader communication error. Check to see if the reader unit is unplugged. I had machines shipped without this cable. That is easy to check if missing or loose. Also: reader pcb, sub controller pcb,ribbon cables loose or cracked, and DC voltage problems to reader.

That's right..... Can't tell you how many times I got to a call just to have to plug in the reader unit cable.

What is the subcode?

If that's not it - then you do indeed have a problem. Some possibilities are The reader controller, reader IF pcb, scanner IF cables, copier IF pcb and the main controller or sub controller pcb.
If the Reader is disconnected from the Printer a E732 code will result.

Also-from a tpub:
Once the Reader is disconnected the logic on the MAIN-Controller is changed to a "0". The copier is now set up to be a Printer only, and will not recognize the Reader.
To correct this, you must enter service mode, COPIER>OPTION>BODY>W/SCNR and set that to "1". Then you must turn the copier off, then on.
