Could be that this message is generated because the Staple/Offset Setting is set to OFF. First try turning it on under Additional Functions>Adjustment/Cleaning>Staple/Offset

    If that doesn't work:
This also happens when you are missing the 24v or 5v power from the copier to the sorter. Check the supplied voltages at the finisher controller board. Probably a power supply issue. Or you may have a broken wire in the cable that runs from the copier to the sorter.

There should be some type finisher error code in the error history.

Here a list of the finisher errors.

        • E000500
        • E000514
        • E000530
        • E000531
        • E000577
        • E000580
        • E000585
Too add on to what Blazed mention, check and verify that the finisher is supplied with the correct voltages. The host machine sends two 24VDC to the Finisher Controller PCB, one of them is used to drive motors while the other is used to generate 5VDC for sensors. Check the voltages at connector J1 pin 6 and connector J2 pin 2 for the 24 volts supply to the Finisher Controller. If the voltage is missing on any of the two supplies on the Finisher Controller PCB you will receive an error message.

The Machine is equipped with a Module disconnection mechanism, which enables it to operate temporarily in the presence of an error. Finishing operations will be limited, such as stapling not being available. To clear the message on the control panel, turn the main power switch of the host machine off, then on. When the host machine has started up, either procedure below will clear the message. Be aware that if a problem still exists with the finisher you might get one of the error codes that i listed, the original failure will need to be resolved at this time.
        • In Service Mode set SORTER>OPTION>MD-SPRTN to '1', turn the main power switch of the host machine off, then on.
