all machines have their good and bad points/ it's a wait and see

Color Models have about 30/35 tech pubs. already

just as long as it doesn't end up like the CLC700 , with it's 80 pubs in 3 weeks

      Those good old CLC days.

I haven't had any problems with the advance models so far.

They are great for about 95% of our customers. Stable, effortless and idiot proof. Nice output on glossy paper.

Just if u need accurate colors, this machine sucks. Everything it prints, PCL/UFR/PS with every tried color/profile settings gives the same problem. OVERSATURATED Colors

Brochures and powerpoints will look great this way, but printing an unprocessed photo is just horrible.

Also some machines have a color mismatch between prints and copies, luckily canon inc. released some adjusting possible in s/m copiers>Adjust>Color level2.

Strange enough nobody seem to bother or give a proper solution for the saturation thing.

What model of IRAC do you mean?

          50xx/70xx/90xx

          I have mostly 5030's ( one customer has 50 of them ) , some 70's and some 90's.

Haven't heard any real horror stories other than the internal sorter as of yet.........So far so good.

Love the warmup time with the "color on demand technology" but it will be interesting to see how well those fusers hold up.

For those unfamiliar with Canon's newer fixing technologies -- here's a quick link worth checking out:

As far as the 50XX's go we have had a real nightmare with them.

I love the engine actually , but the rest is a little suspect.

On all of ours ( with internal finisher A1 ) we had to swap the grippers out. This was after changing ALL of them to heavy paper to slow them down and not cause 1101 jams. The new gripper seemed to solve this.

The 1101 jams also caused a spate of difficult to get jams for the customers, which resulted in many calls to correct the crashed offset assembly.

Fortunately they have now changed the design of the waste toner bottle to stop the auger flag breaking off in the box. Causing the toner to eventually back up onto the t-bed.

I have only had to do 3 of the T-Bed mods for PCQ. Granted these were in art departments so perhaps were as a result of the user noticing it rather than it happening else where. The mods did solve the issue though.

My main issue now is 3 way unit jams. There is no definite fix from either Canon Inc or Canon EU yet for various 3 way jams. This is at present a major ball ache, which can be solved by fitting a new unit. Or unplugging the original one sometimes. Or cutting back cable ties.....sometimes....etc etc.

When I first saw an IRAC5051 on dem, I thought , wow - great machine - fast, quiet, good quality for the price. But that was a 51, it was running 100gsm paper and had an external finisher.
In practice I find them just not as radical as we hoped "the Next Gen" would be.

That said , I have plenty out there that are running and running quite happily. Without any complaints at all from the users.

Ha ha ha. Mine all started coming in after I was telling one of the company directors how I really liked them.

Only issues i have had is the crappy internal A1 finisher
I have had to replaced 3 gripper units, followed by total finisher replacement, Gripper unit rails (4 so far)
And replace 2 of them with ext. finishers instead to cure the E532 E533 errors
But rumours have it that Canon at bringing out a New internal finisher to replace the A1
(God i hope that it's going to be better then the old one)

Oh yeah, and 3 fixing films due to a whining, droning noise with the machine is in use

But part from them problems the machine is okay to work on, with only drums going

Yeah , heard that the A1 Gripper rails were failing. So much that they are out of stock in the UK atm. Strange I have never had to fit one yet.
What was the replacement gripper for? Was it just for the newer type units? ( I have 52 of the old ones in my garage if anyone is interested )

                          MrB - you not had any 1101 / FF90 / 010C 3-way jamming issues?

                            3-way unit jams
Nope not as yet, but that will not put the mockers on it lol
Have been told there are a few machines out there causing this problem, and a replacement 3-way unit fixes it
But like the gripper rails, none in stock in the UK

I changed the grippers for new ones trying o get shut of the E532 & E533 errors
fixedit for about 3 days till it all started again
Then it was a swap from internal to ext. finishers

Hope these rumours are true for the new inner finisher

Yeah. I have fitted 5x 3 way units recently. I also have one out there that has run for 3 weeks after swapping out just the top section of the 3 way unit. I believe a permanent fix is imminent . I would imagine it involves PS39 and 40 or the wiring to those.

Was funny, I had to say I REALLY wanted the 3 way units as they were low stock.
