    Hell Everyone,

What a great fourm, a weath of knownledge in this place.

I have a Canon IRC 3220 with the C1 firey, the Firey starts all leds lite, then go off, then 3&0 lite up, and then it switches to 1&2 lite up 3&0 are off and stay's that way.

no printing, no network connection and when i try to go to the settings screen from the printer button on the screen it say's waiting but the C1 never responds. gave it 20 minutes and still nothing. Pulled the NV ram battery (CR2323) for an hour, still made no difference.

Try and reload your C1 Firmware/ if u have 2.0/ 0r 2.1 those are easy to load-
if u have v1.1.1 I think u need the PDL Downloader v3.2.1 for it= Parallel to Parallel or USB to Parallel ??

imagePASS C1 LED Diagnostic code 1 & 2 on solid
Imagepass C1 starts to boot up normally, then LED's 1 and 2 stay on solid.

        Use the following troubleshooting procedure:

        1) Verify that the imagePASS and the copier are connected via a crossover cable (not a straight through cable or a rollover cable). Test the cable to verify it is good (can connect two computers together with it and have each one try to ping the other's ip address).

        2) Verify that the IMG-CONT service mode setting on the copier is set to the correct value. The IMG-CONT setting can be found in Service Mode under COPIER > OPTION > INT-FACE > IMG-CONT. Should be 3 for this type of print controller

        3) Verify copier's firmware is up to date.

        4) Try reseating the boards and connections on/between the 2 devices. Pay special attention tothe NIC in the copier and the internal NIC in the imagePASS (the imagePASS internal daughter NICis called the'Video Board').
        5) Try reinstalling system software on the imagePASS.

        6) Try reinstalling system software on the copier.

        7) Give your laptop an ip address of 10.255.255.1 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. Disconnect the crossover cable from the imagePASS and connect it to your laptop's network interface. Your laptop will now be connected to the copier via the crossover cable. Try to ping the copier's ip address (10.255.255.2). If you get successful replies, the problem is most likely on the imagePASS side. If the copier fails to reply, the problem is most likely on the copier side.

        8) Give your laptop an ip address of 10.255.255.2 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. Disconnect the crossover cable from thecopier and connect it to your laptop's network interface. Your laptop will now be connected to theimagePASS via the crossover cable. Try to ping the imagePASS' ip address (10.255.255.1). If you get successful replies, the problem is most likely on thecopier side. If theimagePASS fails to reply, the problem is most likely on theimagePASS side.
IP Address Scheme Summary: imagePASS imageRUNNER
        ip address - 10.255.255.1 10.255.255.2
        subnet mask-255.255.255.0 255.255.255.0

How to install system software on the imagePASS C2?

Two ways you can install system software on these models, over a network connection or via a USB flash drive.

          I. Network Installation Method:
To utilize this network installation procedure, the imagePASS and the computer need to be connected either by a Cross-over Ethernet cable or through a hub or switch with regular Ethernet cables. If connected via the hub/switch, the imagePASS and the computer should be the only two devices attached. All cables should be Category 5 or better and the hub/switch should be capable of 100Base-TX connectivity. The computer that is used for this method should have Windows 2000 or Windows XP, a CD-ROM drive, support for 100Base-TX and approximately 500 MB of Hard Disk space free (if install files will be copied to the computer).

          * Verify that the PC has been properly prepared. Any security software (ex. firewall) running on the PC should be disabled. The 'Deterministic Network Enhancer' and 'QoS Packet Scheduler' must be disabled on the PC's NIC (if they are present). Follow the steps below to utilize network installation method:

          1. Print out a Configuration page, then shut down and power off the imagePASS.
          2. Disconnect the network cable from the imagePASS network (RJ45) port. Be sure to disconnect the cable to the customer's LAN, not the Cross-over Ethernet cable that connects to the copier. Leave the two interface cables between the print engine and the imagePASS connected.
          3. Flip the imagePASS service dip switches (DL) up.

Switches on the connector panel 4. Connect the computer and imagePASS together either with a Cross-over Ethernet cable or through a dedicated hub or switch.
          5. Power on the computer.
          6. It should not matter whether the computer is set to use a static IP Address or to obtain one automatically.
          7. Insert the imagePASS System Software CD into the computers CD-ROM drive.
          8. Navigate to the CD-ROM drive and double-click on icon for Install.exe. For a faster installation, the files can be copied from the CD to a location on the computers Hard Disk Drive. If this is done, copy the application file and the folder on the CD to a new folder on the Hard Disk Drive. Do not mix the CD files with other files on the computers Hard Disk Drive. The files may be deleted once the installation is complete.
          - Click Next at the Welcome screen.
          - Select 'I Agree' and click Next.
          - Select Ethernet for the Connection Type and click Next.
          - The Confirmation screen will display.
          9. Power on the copier (which will power on the imagePASS via the PCC).
          10. Wait 10 seconds, click Next, and Next again at the Installation screen. The installation will begin.
          11. The installation will take around 25 minutes.
          12. Click Exit when the message is displayed that the installation was successful. Remove the System Software CD from the computer.
          13. Power off the copier (which should power off the imagePASS via the PCC).
          14. Disconnect the isolated Ethernet network created for the installation and return the imagePASS to its original network connections (connect it back to the customer's LAN).
          15. Flip the service switches back to the original position.
          16. Power on the copier (which should power on the imagePASS via the PCC).
          17. Wait a few minutes.
          18. Proceed through the normal routine for an initial setup for the imagePASS. Select the proper Language and Market Region, then proceed through Setup to configure the proper settings for the imagePASS. Use the Configuration page printed in step 1.
          19. After the imagePASS reboots, allow it to come to Idle and verify functionality.
II. Installing System Software Using a USB Flash Drive:

To install system software using a USB 2.0 flash drive (with 1GB or higher capacity and a data transfer LED), you must use a flash drive that has been prepared already. For instructions on obtaining the necessary USB Flash Tool CD, 1. Power off the print engine using its AC power switch.

          2. Make sure the following cables are attached to the unit G1
-Interface cables (2) to the print engine.
          - Power cable to AC outlet.

          3. Attach the prepared USB flash drive to one of the USB Type A connectors on the imagePASS. If dust covers are attached to the USB Type A connectors, remove one dust cover using needle-nose pliers.
          * Note: Do not move the service switches to the service position. Leave the switches in the position for normal operation.

          4. Power on the print engine using its AC power switch.
          5. Wait several minutes while the files are transferred (usually between 6 and 20 minutes, depending on the size of the system software). The flash drive LED shows sporadic activity. The DIAG LEDs show random 2-digit hexadecimal numbers, including the digits 00 and FF. When done, the flash drive LED goes off; and DIAG LEDs show FF and stay at FF.
          6. Before you power off the print engine, wait a full 30 seconds to make sure that the flash drive LED stays off and that the DIAG LEDs stays at FF.
          7. Power off the print engine using its AC power switch.
          8. After the DIAG LEDs go out, wait at least 30 seconds, and then remove the USB flash drive from the unit.
          9. Power on the print engine using the AC power switch and allow the system to boot. Wait approximately 5 minutes for the Printer tab on the main cover screen to be active.
          10. Touch the Printer Tab on the main copier screen and then touch the Printer Status/ Settings key.
          11. Proceed through the normal routine for an initial setup for the imagePASS. Select the proper Language and Market Region, then proceed through Setup to configure the proper settings for the imagePASS. Use the Configuration page printed in step 1. If prompted, the Administrator's case-sensitive password is 'Fiery.1'.
          12. After the imagePASS reboots, allow it to come to Idle and verify functionality.

                Scretape,

THANK YOU, for that information, i have done most of what you recommended for what i have found search these forums, Having all this in one place i hope helps someone else in the future.

I was able to ping the copier but not the imagepass when connecting my laptop to the cross-over cable. so i think i can safely say I've narrowed it down to the image pass. i will look at the serial number and determine the version number.

although i do not have the resources to reload the firmware on the image pass, do you have any information or a possible way i can download the firmware for this C1 unit?

again THANK YOU very much, you have been most helpful!

I wish I could help in that department.
See if you could find a Canon dealer around where you live and purchase it.
