    1. Press [Additional Functions].

    2. On the touch panel display, press [System Settings].

    3. Press [Network Settings].

    4. Press [TCP/IP Settings].

    5. Press [IP Address Settings]. Some newer devices will show IPv4 or IPv6 settings. Choose IPv4 Settings.

    6. Make sure that IP Address is highlighted. Then press the [Clear] button to erase the current IP address and enter the new IP address using the keypad. Change the subnet mask and gateway settings in the same manner (as necessary).

    * Since you are manually specifying a static IP Address, be sure that DHCP, BOOTP, and RARP are disabled.

    7. Confirm the settings you specified, and then press [OK]. The display returns to the TCP/IP Settings screen.

    8. Press [Done]. Repeat this step until the Additional Functions screen closes.

    9. Reboot the machine via the proper procedure for your specific model.

    10. Then install the driver on to the PC or network.

this set-up, i know this one. i think u could do it this way if your bootrom is an "N". but if you have a "C" bootroom and have a ufr device configuration on ur unit, this ip address setting in the "system Management" set up is gray-out. I dont know if theres some option setting that i still dont know so could set up your ip address w/out going thru the "system management" set-up.

        If u have a Fiery attached >
        in service mode

        COPIER>OPTION>INT-FACE
        IMG-CONT - set it to "3"
        then reboot printer

do set up from Printer Tab n control panel

note** password prompt in setup is Fiery.1

The 'i' models only support the UFRII/PCL Printer Kit-N1 (which comes standard)
Don't you have to convert this machine. It requires a Open Interface Board in order to attach a fiery.
Do you have a i model or is there a box attach on the back of the machine.

iR5185i can be configured to accept and function with an imagePASS. You have to order and install the Open Interface PCB or (R0-B PCB) into the machine. Once installed it will automatically disable the UFRII / PCL Print Kit-H1.The Canon part number to order the Open Interface Board is FM2-7430-000.

Maybe he just needs to change the option "display network messages" to on, than the ip adress option becomes selectable en an ip can be set.

              1. System Settings
              2. Network Settings
              3. "display network messages" to on. its the only one not grayed out.

Its pretty much a standard set up.

Unless there is a fiery. Then its a different set up.
